The University has experienced a significant growth in student population over the years. In a bid to continue providing world class transport services; transport and garage department has acquired three new buses. The Isuzu FVR23R model buses will aid in transportation of students at the colleges of Health Sciences, Biological and Physical Sciences and the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. In a ceremony attended by college principals from the aforementioned colleges Prof. I. Kibwage,Prof. B. Aduda and Prof. E. Njeru,the Deputy Vice Chancellor (A & F), Prof. F. M. Mbithi received the new buses and emphasised the commitment of the University Management in ensuring that resources are availed to ensure that the University remains a leader in provision of world class services. Transport and Garage Department was represented by the Coordinator, Dr. Julius M. Ogola and the Assistat Registrar, David Sereti.

During the same ceremony, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (A & F), Professor F. M. Mbithi unveiled a new lorry  to be used for transporting the University of Nairobi's brand of mineral water, Royal Satima. This brand of water has distinctive qualities that make it a " high-end product" but with an "affordable price". The new lorry  will aid in transporting the mineral water to various locations throughout the country. The ceremony was attended by representatives from the finance department led by the Finance Officer, Mr. Michael Karue and the Deputy Finance Officer (G), Mr. Peter K. Busienei. Prof. C. Gachere, a member of the Royal Satima Steering Committee also attended.
