Affiliates of the African Academy of Sciences - Invitation for applications

The UoN Road Safety Mainstreaming Committee meets with the VC

The University of Nairobi Road Safety Mainstreaming Committee yesterday Tuesday 19-May-2021 met with the Vice Chancellor Professor Kiama. The Vice Chancellor signed the 2020 Stockholm Declaration campaign calling for a maximum road travel speed limit of 30 km/h where vulnerable road users and vehicles mix in a frequent and planned manner. The United Nation General Assembly in its Resolution (A/RES/74/299) declared the new Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021-2030. As part of the declarations, the UN is holding the 6th Global Road Safety Week on 17-23 May.

UoN, Equity & Forest Service Partner in Tree Planting Exercise to Celebrate UoN@50

The University of Nairobi (UoN) partnered with Kenya Forest Service and the Equity Bank in a tree planting exercise at UoN's College of Agriculture and Veterinary Services (CAVS) and the Wangari Maathai Institute (WMI) in Upper Kabete to celebrate UoN@50 years since its establishment. 

The Chief Conservator of Forests Mr. Julius Kamau joined the Chief Guest, Equity Group's Chief Commercial Officer Mr. Polycarp Igathe and UoN's Vice-Chancellor Professor Stephen Kiama in planting 7,000 trees. 

Invitation to the Tree Planting Exercise on Tuesday,18 May 2021 at 10.00 a.m.

The University of Nairobi in partnership with the Equity Group Foundation, Kenya Forest Service, Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Interior & Coordination of National government have planned to plant more than 5,000 trees on 18th May 2021 in various parts of the University. The  5,000 tree seedlings have been donated by the Equity Foundation Group to promote environmental conservation and to stress the importance of fresh air( oxygen) during this period of Covid-19. About 3,000 trees will be planted on 18-May-2021, at 10.00 a.m  in identified  grounds at  the College of Agriculture and Veterinary Services and the Wangari Maathai Institute. The remaining 2,000 seedlings will be distributed to various campuses to plant in their environs.
